What is Yerba mate?

Yerba mate (Ilex paraguayenis) is a tree native to the rainforests of South America. The leaves and stems have been used traditionally to make tea in Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. The tea, which is called "yerba mate" or “mate”, is used in traditional medicine also to treat various health problems. The plant is classified vaguely, according to Western herbal medicine, as aromatic, stimulant, bitter, aperient (laxative), astringent, diuretic, purgative, sudorific (sweat inducing), and febrifuge (fever reducing).

The benefits of Yerba Mate

Mate contains numerous vitamins and minerals. There is the usual array of resins, fiber, volatile oil, and tannins that characterize many plant substances. And there is also carotene; vitamins A. C, E, B-1, B-2 and B-complex; riboflavin; nicotinic acid; pantothenic acid; biotin; magnesium; calcium; iron; sodium; potassium; manganese; silicon; phosphates; sulfur; hydrochloric acid; chlorophyll; choline; and inositol. In 1964 one group of investigators from the Pasteur Institute and the Paris Scientific Society concluded that Mate contains practically all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life. In addition to the regular nutrients, Mate contains Mateine which belongs to a specialized class of chemical compounds called xanthines.

Mateine, The natural stimulant without side effects

Xanthines are known as stimulants. However, the mateine is quite different from other xanthines. Yerba Mate has the ability to increase mental alertness and acuity without any side effects such as nervousness and jitters. Unlike other xanthines which can cause stresses on your heart, mateine can actually be helpful to your heart by increasing supply of oxygen to the heart. It can also relax your blood vessels, increasing circulation and lowering blood pressure.

Naturally improve your metabolism with Yerba Mate

Mate has become a favorite for body builders and anyone interested in the health benefits of exercise. The metabolic effects of Mate appear to include the ability to maintain aerobic glycolysis (breakdown of carbohydrates) during exercise for longer periods of time. This results in burning more calories, increasing cardiac efficiency, and delaying anaerobic glycolysis and the resulting buildup of lactic acid during exercise.

Green Tea, the Clinically Proven Weight Loss Ingredient

Known as ‘the healthiest thing you can think of drinking’, Green Tea has been recommended by many researchers and doctors around the world. Green tea’s biggest benefit comes from its catechin content. Catechins are antioxidants that fight and may even prevent cell damage. The tea leaves are naturally rich with catechins, and Green tea goes through minimal processing from its natural state before consumption. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), also known as epigallocatechin-3-gallate, is a type of catechin which has been proven to help people lose weight.

When body needs to produce energy, the fat from body tissue is released into the blood stream, and the body uses it as fuel. The process of using fat as fuel is known as thermogenesis. Green tea provides a potent antioxidant, EGCG which has the ability to enhance your body’s metabolism and speed up weight loss by promoting thermogenesis. EGCG is particularly more effective when combined with other beneficial substances in green tea. Green tea also contains caffeine, a well-known stimulant that has been shown to aid fat burning and improve exercise performance in numerous studies.
